Gotham Awards 2021: l'elenco completo dei vincitori
I Gotham Awards sono da sempre una tappa fondamentale nella maratona della stagione dei premi, soprattutto per le produzioni indipendenti a basso budget che cercano punti per la corsa agli Oscar. Tuttavia, non tutti i probabili contendenti all'Oscar 2022 si trovavano alla 31a edizione del premio perché titoli come Il potere del cane (The Power of the Dog), Tick, Tick... Boom! e The Harder They Fall hanno superato il limite di budget di 35 milioni di dollari e non sono risultati candidabili. 

Per la prima volta, i documentari internazionali sono stati ammessi alla competizione per il miglior lungometraggio documentario e non sono mancate altre novità. Ha trionfato La figlia oscura (The Lost Daughter) di Netflix, ottenendo il maggior numero di vittorie con premi come miglior film, premio al miglior regista esordiente a Maggie Gyllenhaal, miglior interpretazione per Olivia Colman e miglior sceneggiatura. Lo streamer ha anche vinto per la migliore serie con Squid Game che si è portata a casa il primo premio. Nel frattempo, CODA di Apple ha ottenuto premi imporanti e come artisti dell'anno sono stati infine premiati Kristen Stewart e Peter Dinklage.
