Hollywood calls for its most glamorous stars to repeat on an international scale the success of the Academy Award Winner for the Best Foreign Language Film 2010, The Secret in Their Eyes. Juan José Campanella, director of the original version, is the producer of this American remake, starring Chiwetel Ejiofor, Nicole Kidman and Julia Roberts. A breath-taking thriller settled in the post-9/11 US, in which a terrible murder upsets the lives of three FBI agents. Even though the protagonists lose no time in finding the culprit, the investigation is hindered for political reasons by stronger powers (focused on counter-terrorism). The surprising final plot twist puts an end to a painful and somewhat shocking analysis of the mistakes committed in the name of justice and national security. After the script of Paul Greengrass’s, Captain Phillips, Billy Ray signs this intense adaptation of the novel by Eduardo A. Sacheri (on which the original version was based too) and directs it with great expertise. A catching movie, with a great suspense.
