Sono stati assegnati i New York Film Critics Circle Awards, il premio dei critici della circoscrizione di New York.

Si tratta di premi molto importanti in ottica Oscar, visto che hanno circa il 40% di attendibilità sull’esito finale della notte delle stelle e sono dei grandi anticipatori sulle tendenze della stagione dei premi.

L’anno scorso trionfò La La Land e molti altri premi furono i medesimi rispetto agli Oscar: Best actor (Casey Affleck, Manchester by the Sea), best supporting actor (Mahershala Ali, Moonlight), animated feature film (Zootopia), best screenplay (Kenneth Lonergan, Manchester by the Sea) and documentary (O.J.: Made in America), come ci ricorda Deadline.
